Prescription Policy:
- Prescriptions are only written by our physician staff.
- Refills for prescriptions can be requested by calling your pharmacy and asking them to fax a refill request to the office at (309) 862-1542. All requests for refills will be addressed daily; however, requests received after 3pm will be handled the next business day. Prescriptions for certain medications must be written (not phoned or faxed). These are usually available 24 hours after request. For security reasons prescriptions are not generally mailed.
- It is important that you keep your follow-up appointments with the doctor so that your progress on medications can be monitored; therefore, refills can only be provided to patients who have seen the doctor as directed. If you have not been seen by the doctor for longer than a 6 month period of time (3 months for certain medications), your refill may be denied. If you have or schedule an appointment within the next 30 days, refills may be approved.
- You are responsible for initiating a prescription refill before you run out of medication as some medications CANNOT be abruptly discontinued or doses missed without the possibility of withdrawal or other adverse effects.
- If we are prescribing medications, you cannot concurrently obtain prescriptions for the same or similar medication from another physician or medical office. We also request that you use the same pharmacy for each refill. To provide you with the best treatment, we ask that you bring with you to each appointment a current list of all medications (prescribed or over-the-counter) and supplements which you are taking.
- Lost, stolen, or destroyed prescriptions for controlled medications will not be replaced. Psychiatric services may be discontinued if you increase your medication without communicating with your psychiatrist, obtain controlled substances from multiple medical offices or from street sources, or sell, lose, or give away medications.
